Exclusive Interview with George Christie

I recently found out that George Christie, long time President of the Hells Angels Ventura Chapter, was out in bad so I reached out to him and asked if he would do an interview. I can tell you one thing - this guy is the real deal. There have been other fly by night flashes in the pan that I refused to endorse. This guy I do endorse. Completely. He is what they meant when they made up the term old school. These new kids on the block have no idea what old school is simply because they've never been to school. We look forward to hearing more from him.

They falsely accused him of cooperating with law enforcement after he left so he wrote a new book that comes out September 20th 2016 to set the record straight.

So when and where did you first join the Hells Angels?

I came around the Los Angels Hells Angels in the mid seventies, in 1977 I became president.

What was your involvement with the Ventura chapter?

I along with another member started the Ventura Hells Angels in 1978, and was president till 2011.

What is your new book about?

My book is about my introduction into the outlaw lifestyle, tenure as a leader in the Hells Angels and my departure from the club.

What is the history channel series about?

The History Channel show, Outlaw Chronicles was about my adventures in the outlaw motorcycle world.

LA is pretty much the centre of the world as far as gangs go. New York may well have invented gangs but LA certainly perfected them. The Mongols are huge in Southern California. What was it like being a leader of the Hells Angels with so many rivals around?

Being a leader in Southern California taught me the art of negotiation. I was at the first confrontation we had with the Mongols, that was 1977 and really the beginning of a war that still exists to this day. I watched them become one of the premier outlaw motorcycle clubs on this planet. I think all they wanted was respect and no one can say they haven’t earned it.

It has been said that you and Sonny Barger had different styles of leadership. Do you care to comment on that? Was he the one that had you put out in bad standing after so many years of faithful service?

Sonny and I had not only had different leadership styles, but different visions as leaders.

Have you ever cooperated with law enforcement?

I have never cooperated with law enforcement or had conversations with L.E. that put anyone's freedom in jeopardy. Anyone who has been in a leadership position in all likelihood has had conversations with cops, that doesn’t make them a rat.

Do you know of Ruben Cavazos aka Doc? Do you think he cooperated with law enforcement?

I know Doc, but I think that question should be addressed to the Mongols.

What is your opinion on the criminal organization status of the Hells Angels?

The Hells Angels are not a criminal organization, but have members that have been found guilty of criminal acts. But so have politicians, cops, attorneys, etc.

Have you ever heard of TBM Fresh Start? Would you be interested in starting something like that in LA?

I have heard of different fresh start programs, and would share my experiences and views with participants, but have no interest in starting a program like that at this point in my life. I am exploring a new TV show concept that would focus on the justice system, but I am not at liberty to go any deeper on that subject at the moment.

Here's a quote from George Christie's new book:

"People confuse the outlaw and the criminal. Some outlaws commit crimes, but the real outlaw isn’t a criminal by trade. He’s someone who refuses to live by society’s established norms of behavior. He has an internal code and answers only to his own sense of honor and right and wrong. The outlaw doesn’t conform; he rebels. He doesn’t accept; he questions. In the end, the outlaw might change and adapt, but he bends for no man and won’t let his life be defined by someone else. Jesse James was an outlaw but so was Albert Einstein. I’ve been many things - father, son, husband, leader, brother, and friend - but through it all, I was always an outlaw."

George Christie's new book Exile on Front Street: My life as a Hells Angel and Beyond will be released September 20th 2016. You can preorder it now online. Peace.

  1. You endorse this guy? Whats wrong with you? George Christie spent 40 years as a HA chapter president which means he was a dedicated criminal. He was in charge of drug dealing, he ordered violence on untold numbers of people, and he protected the drug pushers, murders, thieves and rapists within the club. You'd be a hypocrite if you weren't so stupid

  2. Unknown, 5:07: you don't have to be a member of the H.A. to protect drug pushers, murderers, rapists, thieves, etc. You could be a well to do socialite and do all of those things. Also a corporate executive, lawyer, police officer, judge, etc. Just have a look at Alabama politics or multi national corporations actions toward people trying to form Unions. Through it all politicians in G-7 countries did nothing and just let it all proceed.

There is really no difference between the H.A. and any number of corporate, foreign service, police agencies. Its the product, if they are criminals which vary. How many politicians in Europe have been "caught" involved with child porn, child sexual slavery? You read about the big busts and then nothing. The H.A. aren't always "nice" people, but neither are many "upright, upstanding citizens". We have to look no further than the news yesterday where the company which manufacturers ep pens raised the price from $100 to $600. Now many can't afford them and may well die. What about those corporate elite? Product is produced for $2.00.

What would you call the current provincial government in B.C. which forces the disabled to live on $908 per month? People don't live on that, they start a slow death because of a lack of nutrition, stress, and inadequate housing. In my opinion that makes them complicate in the early deaths of many. Too bad there isn't a criminal charge in Canada for that.

Not all "bad boys" are found in the H.A. or have you not read the news of the Syrian government dropping barrel bombs on children?

  3. I grew up knowing GC and many of the Ventura members. I know people from all walks of life. I have say, the HA's that I have known, are some of the most stand up men I have ever met. There is no grey area. They are men of integrity. Don't judge if you don't know. On a Harley or in a Bentley, know the person before you make a judgement.

  4. e.a.f. Thank you for putting it so eloquently. If the labels frighten well maybe new ones would help...haha. Love the anonymous as well.Maybe we can vote for one as president. The show is great and the book will be too. People fear what they don't know.

  5. The best revenge is success. The federal penal system is designed to break a mans spirit and crush his soul. The system is self serving, self perpetuating. Recidivism is close to 100%. Mr. Christie has beaten the odds. Just that deserves respect. Congratulations to Mr Christie on his memoirs, his interviews and his open honest posts. We can all learn something from his success.

  6. For those eager to jump on board the redemption train, remember that none of this happened until he was "out in bad standing". Up to then he was perfectly happy not to get off the ride until the music stopped. Now he's "reformed". Yeah.... Never seen that in an inmate before.... :sarc: yeah prison will do that....except Christie would never find Jesus, he can see Christ(ie) in the mirror every time he looks. LOL.

If he hadn't been put out, he'd still be the Chapter President. He doesn't have that anymore, so now it's "The George Christie Show". Wonder if it pays better than pimping and slinging dope?

    1. Ah yes but even when he was with the HAs he and Sonny Barger had completely different visions as leaders. His definition of an Outlaw is something I can endorse. Not someone who is a criminal by trade but someone who rebels against the mainstream and has his own sense of what's right and wrong.

Drugs in clubs is none of my business. What consenting adults do behind closed doors is their own business. My beef is the exploitation that went along with the Dianne Rock story and the Janice Shore story as well as the Britney Irving and Brandy Sarionder story. Many people in that life agree with my concerns.

Originally my blog set off on the Hells Angels are a criminal organization crusade. I have amended that quest because I do believe that a handful of people use the name of the club for criminal activity but I don't believe all of the members are criminals by trade. Only a few greedy bastards like David Giles who dont share those profits with the rest of the club and dont care who they hurt to make those profits.

Personally I think George Christy's work with the US judicial system will be much more interesting than Sonny Barger's very distorted Sons of Anarchy. Time will tell.

  7. Yo trailrunner, your just the kind of whining bitch the boys (girls) in D block eat for breakfast. Associate with felons after release is a quick parole violation and a ride back to T.I. Clueless fool.

  8. Ask George how he was up on a life sentence for ordering bombing of tattoo parlours that were cutting into his own business. And magically he never did one day in jail??? I'm not saying any facts and ill wait for the book to come out but something is fishy! As for Sonny Barger HE is the real deal the man took 30 years to life on the chin without crying ended up beating a old felony on appeal and that's why he walked after 5 years cause the 30 years sentence was due to a prior felony. Anyway not saying George is a POS he is highly intelligent but I think George is looking out for one person and that's George. But then again in this day and age who isn't???

    1. There's a film about te FBI case against George Christie:
      http://www.agingrebel.com/9200

If he cooperated with police they wouldn't be given Sonny Barger supporters private taped evidence against him. I dont support Sonny Barger at all. Ask Margo Compton and her twin seven year old daughters if Sonny Barger is the real deal. Oh yeah, you can't because they're dead.

It just really bugs me when people call someone a rat when they are not. They said the same thing about Brittney Irving and that was a bold faced lie.

  9. I will definitely watch that film on the FBI case. As for Margo Compton and her daughters that was a really sad case. The POS Otis Garret who ordered the hits on them will rot in hell. But you have to remember that doesn't mean Sonny sanctioned what Otis did. Regardless I'm not sure how close they are/were regardless if Sonny knew about that hit he should have put a bullet in Otis himself first.

    1. Turns out there is a dispute over the copyright of the DVD so I updated the link to a blog post the Aging Rebel made about it who wrote the film and appeared in it.

As for the Margo Compton murder, Otis ran a prostitution ring for the Hells Angels in San Francisco called the Love Nest. David Giles was caught on wire claiming that not all members are involved in criminal activity but anyone who uses the name of the club for criminal activity needs to approve it through the local executive first. Sonny was the founder of that charter. That implicates him in her murder.

  10. That comment is a stretch. I have no idea if Sonny Barger knew before hand, endorsed, agreed, respected this action but I would highly doubt it. Not only is it distasteful to slaughter children it brings unwanted attention from all avenues.

I have to admit George Christie is a very well spoken, intelligent person. He conveys this well in the Outlaw Chronicles. He chooses his words intelligently which typically mirrors his actions as to whether to participate in crime and which if any he would become involved with.

He, as they often say....could and would be successful in most endeavors he chose to become involved in.

    1. I guess I'm just applying he David Giles declaration who said that if any member or associate uses the name of the club for criminal activity, they have to approve it through the local executive first. Otis was running a prostitution ring in San Francisco for the Oakland chapter. The Oakland chapter had to have known about it.

    2. Yes, Giles statement is true but that does not encompass each individual act needing approval. If a member wants to use the club name to influence their criminal network and intimate support they must have this approved.

They do not however bring each criminal act up for approval.

This was all I was trying to convey. Given this we have no idea if SB knew before hand or not.

      The statement made below "v"

  11. I agree, The club had to know and if a member does something without a prior consensus by the leadership then the club as a whole has culpability in the offense (crime being committed). When a member gets caught some say nothing (per the club rules) or they start "ratting" out those involved and in some cases turn into an informant against the very same brotherhood they are sworn to protect at any cost. There were (3) bodies dug up at George Wethern's property that were put there and while George told the members where to bury the bodies he wasn't personally involved in the actual murders but Sonny Barger facilitated as to what to do with the bodies because George had the perfect spot and large property. Sonny Barger too wasn't involved in the murders but he knew about it. George and his wife who ended up cutting a deal with the Feds and spilled his gut on the Hells Angels and his "brother's" to include Sonny Barger. Today he is in the witness protection program because of that bust that went down when law enforcement raided his ranch.

    2. Listen, they can hide behind this fake "not all members are crim's" shit all they want, anyone with a lick of sense knows better. The only people who say otherwise are people who have a reason for wanting it to be something else than what it really is. Sort of like socialists who have a political career in mind where they wear a suit, have an office, and don't have to join in all the hard lifting their constituents do every day to pay bills.....Deep down everyone knows it's BS and will end badly, but until then, the band plays on.....

What moron pays $5K@ month for a patch if there are no benefits, or if that $$ comes out of the family food budget from his job as a mechanic? A criminal who wants the supposed protection of that patch, that's who.

Oh, you didn't know members pay per month for that patch? Whoops, my bad....

      Delete
    3. Locals are quite cynical about people buying their patches here in Canada. However, I really don't think every member has to pay that much every month. My position is simple. Maple Ridge is full of HAs. I dont believe they all sell drugs.
